See below for the extra gift you can get!

Your contribution will go towards two things at Little Brook Farm.

1. Help Little Brook get and maintain a security camera system for the stalls in the stables.

Recently, the thoroughbred Benny got very sick and needed to be watched at all times. Though she is better now, at first she could not be left alone, meaning that volunteers and interns had to stay with her all night. They took turns sleeping on hay and watching. For weeks during the middle of the night, Little Brook’s owner Lynn went back and forth to check on Benny. With a security camera system in the stables, they will be able to keep an eye on the horses from their phones at all times!

2. B.I.T.S. (Balanced Innovative Teaching Strategies).

Since 1986,  Little Brook Farm has been home to B.I.T.S., a non-profit educational program that serves several different purposes. One is to teach policemen how to identify abuse and neglect in horses that are reported to be in danger. Another is to provide kids, often from inner cities, with therapeutic riding. Many have never been out of their city and have never met or touched a horse, and some have special needs. They learn through relationships with the horses, who are non-judgmental, provide immediate feedback, and offer unlimited possibilities to grow mentally, physically, and emotionally. Little Brook provides a wide range of safety-conscious programs at the farm, as well as other locations, to over 80 schools, agencies, and organizations.

SPECIAL GIFT:

People who donate $36 (a multiple of chai) or more have the option to get a painted horseshoe! It can be customized to have a horse’s name (for ex. from the “Some Horses I Love” page) or it can have your own (or anyone’s) name on it! The person with the highest donation will get the grand prize of Abe’s giant horseshoe. Abe is a very special horse—gentle and much loved. He is a retired police horse and stands at nineteen hands tall. The tallest living horse in the world is 20 hands, which means that Abe isn’t far off! Because of Abe’s size, his horseshoes are extra large. Whoever wins Abe’s horseshoe will still get to customize it however they like!
